Summary

An easy way to protect the privacy or recording schedule of a DVR is to make it invisible to other cable boxes in a Whole Home DVR setup.

Solution

The Whole Home DVR setup offers a privacy feature that protects a DVR's List of Titles, recordings, and storage space from being accessed by another receiver. It's called the Network Status feature.
1
Go to the DVR you want to make Visible or Invisible.
2
Press the SETTINGS button on the remote.
3
  1. From the Settings menu, highlight Receivers and press the SELECT button.
Result: The middle box displays DVR Network.
  2. Highlight DVR Network and press SELECT.
4
Highlight the Change Network Status option and press SELECT.
Note: The name of the DVR and its current status is listed in the left box. In this example, the DVR is named Bed Room and it is currently visible to all other receivers connected to the Whole Home DVR setup in your home.

  1. Highlight the Visible or Invisible option and press SELECT. In this example, we'll select  Invisible, which prevents other receivers from accessing any content or features of the DVR.
Note: An "invisible" DVR can still access "visible" DVRs on the Whole Home network.
  2. If you have already created a Parental Control PIN in the Settings menu, then a popup box displays and requires you to enter the PIN. This prevents unauthorized changes to the Visible / Invisible setting.

Result: After the Visible / Invisible setting is selected, and the PIN entered if required, a confirmation page    displays and shows the new status of the DVR, which is Invisible in the following example.

6
To make the DVR Visible again, repeat steps 1 through 4 and then select the Visible option in step 5.
