Summary

Learn how to use your on-screen program guide's interactive features, such as setting a purchase PIN or blocking content based on FCC content labels.

Solution

You use this information for a digital receiver.

Note: A digital receiver cannot record and store programs; you can only use it to watch programs.

Block Content Based on FCC Labels

You can use the parental control feature to block content based on FCC content labels:

  • Violence (V)
  • Sexual situations (S)
  • Suggestive dialogue (D)
  • Adult language (L)
  1. Press Menu button on remote twice to display the Settings menu.
  2. Use the up or down arrow button on your remote to highlight Parental Control.
  3. Use the right arrow button on the remote to highlight Lock Content.
  4. Press the Select button on the remote.

Set Receiver to Tune to Channel

You can set the receiver to show either the last channel viewed or a specific channel when you turn the receiver on.

  1. Press the Menu button on the remote control twice to access the Settings menu.
  2. Use the up or down arrow button on the remote to highlight Power–On Channel.
  3. Press the right arrow on the remote and then use the up or down arrows to highlight a specific channel or Last Channel.
  4. Press the Select button on the remote.

Result: A white dot appears beside the channel call letters.

Create a Separate PIN for Purchasing Programs

Use separate PINs for parental control and purchasing. You can find the purchase PIN under its own menu.

  1. Press the Menu button on remote control twice to access the Settings menu.
  2. Use the up or down arrow button on the remote to highlight Purchasing.
  3. Press the right arrow button on the remote to display the PIN Entry window.
  4. Use the number buttons on the remote to enter your PIN.
  5. Press Select.

Specify Whether Remote Control Uses A, B, C Buttons

Specify whether you use a remote with or without the A, B, and C buttons. This affects which buttons display in the program guide.

  1. Press the Menu button on the remote control twice to access Settings menu.
  2. Use the up or down arrow button on the remote to highlight Remote Control.
  3. Press right arrow button on the remote and then use up or down arrow button to highlight one of the following:
    • Includes A, B, C Keys
    • Excludes A, B, or C keys.
  4. Press Select.
