Perform an Anti-Virus Check  

The Antivirus scan looks for the existence and state of currently loaded anti virus software. If no anti-virus software is detected or if the software is out of date, you will be directed to the McAfee download page on the Cox.com site.

Note: Running the Antivirus check does not require a subscription to Cox Technical Solutions.

  1. Open dashboard by either clicking shortcut or taskbar icon.


    -or-


  2. From the Cox PC HealthCheck Dashboard located on your desktop click the Antivirus icon.

Result: One of the three scenarios described in the table below will occur.

If...Then...
You have Cox Security Suite or Cox Security Suite Plus installed,The Cox Security Suite or Cox Security Suite Plus summary page will display.
If you have no anti-virus and/or anti-spyware installed on your system,The Cox Technical Solutions screen will display and provide a link to the Cox Security Suite download page.
You have an anti-virus and/or anti spyware application on your system that is not supported by Cox,The message: “Unknown product anti-virus software was found and is protecting your system” will display.

Note: Cox Security Suite and Cox Security Suite Plus are the only anti-virus and anti-spyware applications currently supported by Cox Technical Solutions. For help with non-supported anti-virus and/or anti-spyware software, please consult the software manufacturer’s website.

Perform a Backup Check

The Backup scan looks for the existence and state of currently loaded backup software. If no backup software is detected or if the software is out of date, you will be directed to the Media Store and Share download page on the Cox.com site.

Note: Running the Backup check does not require a subscription to Cox Technical Solutions.

  1. Open dashboard by either clicking shortcut or taskbar icon.


    -or-


  2. From the Cox PC HealthCheck Dashboard located on your desktop click the Backup icon.

Result: One of the two scenarios described in the table below will occur.

If...Then...
You have Cox Media Store and Share installed,The Media Store and Share summary page will display.
If you have no backup software installed on your system,The Cox Technical Solutions screen will display and provide a link to the Media Store and Share download page.
Note: Media Store and Share is the only backup application currently supported by Cox Technical Solutions. For help with non-supported backup software, please consult the software manufacturer’s website.
