Summary

As part of our ongoing Customer Safety program, Cox Communications uses many active security measures in order to protect its customer from increasing threats on the Internet. An In-Browser Notification is one of these methods used to alert customers of a possible virus on their computer. This notification relates to the wireless router you own.

Solution

For any devices you have on your home network, Cox recommends that you ensure that they are running the latest patches and firmware. Check your device manufactures website for the latest security updates..

If you have a NETGEAR WNDR4500 / N900 router connected to your cable modem using Cox High Speed Internet and you have not updated your router’s firmware within the past three months, your router may be running on an older version of firmware. Having outdated firmware could put your network at risk of Internet attacks and affect your quality of service. We request that you check and update your router’s firmware immediately.

You can access your NETGEAR router’s control panel at http://routerlogin.net and log in using your username and password.

Note: If you are unable to access the control panel, try one of the following addresses.

If you did not set up a username and password, try signing in using the default login of ”admin” as the username and “password” as the password.

If you need further assistance with your NETGEAR WNDR4500 / N900 router, you may contact Cox Support at 1-800-753-6085. If you have a different model of NETGEAR router and need help updating your firmware, you can call NETGEAR Support directly at 1-888-NETGEAR (1-888-638-4327).
