Changing the Duress Code in the Cox Home Security Subscriber Portal and Touchscreen

Learn how to modify the Cox Home Security Duress Code in the Subscriber Portal and on the touchscreen.


The duress keypad code can be used to if an intruder forces you to arm/disarm your system or access your security settings. Rather than entering your keypad code, enter the duress keypad code. When you do this, you will be granted full access to your touchscreen, but a silent alarm is immediately sent to the central monitoring station and police are dispatched. Learn how to change the Cox Home Security duress code in the Subscriber Portal and on the touchscreen.

Change in the Subscriber Portal

From the Cox Home Security Subscriber Portal main page select Security>Key Pad Codes.
Result: The Key Pad Access Codes page displays.


Click the Pencil icon.
Result: The Account Verification window displays.



Enter the Master Key Pad Code, then click OK.
Result: The Edit Access Code window displays.


Enter a new Access Code, then click SAVE.
Result: Your new duress code is active.

Change on the Touchscreen


From the Cox Home Security Touchscreen Settings menu, touch Security>Manage Keypad Codes.

Result: The Manage Keypad Codes screen displays.


Select Edit in the Duress field.
If duress code is enabled, touch 4-Digit code field to change your current code.  

If duress code is disabled, touch Enable Duress Code.
Enter the new 4 digit duress code.

: You will be asked to verify new code before save it.
Touch Save.

Result: Your new duress code is active.
