Solution
Before you attempt to use Remote DVR scheduling, you must:
- Have a valid Cox.net email address
- Have Cox DVR service
- Have a data-capable wireless phone
- Subscribe to data service through any wireless provider
In order to search and view TV listings, then schedule a recording, follow these instructions:
- Using your wireless device, access your Internet browser.
- Enter cox.com/mydvr in the address field.
Click Enter.
Result: the Welcome screen displays.Note: Read the information on this screen carefully before continuing to the next screen. Cox does not charge for remote DVR scheduling; however, wireless charges may apply depending on the plan you have through your wireless provider.
- Click Continue.
- Click the Continue button.
Result: The Login screen displays. - In the Phone field, enter your 10-digit wireless telephone number in this format: XXXXXXXXXX.
- In the PIN field, enter the PIN you created when you registered.
Note: If you forget your PIN, click the Forgot Your PIN? Re-register link to create a new PIN. The DVR Scheduling does not send an email reminder of your PIN, so it is recommended that you write it down and keep it in a safe place - Click the Submit button.
Result: The Menu screen displays.
View TV Listings
From the Menu screen click TV Listings or enter a search term.
Results: The TV Listings screen displays.Note: The first column contains the channels available in your market. The second column shows the program guide, and the third column shows what programs are coming up next.
- Use the up and down arrows to navigate through the channels.
- Use the left and right arrows to navigate the program guide for the previous or upcoming hour.
- Enter a specific channel and click the Jump To # button.
Note: This version of program guide is the same as the one provided for your home service.
Click a listing, such as Mine to Market.
Result: The Program Details screen displays.
This screen lists:
- The program title
- A brief program description (if available)
- The day and time the program is scheduled to air
- The station on which the program may be viewed
- The channel on which the program may be viewed
All steps complete.
Search TV Programs
The Search Listings functions allow you to search using keywords. Search Listings will return any programs for that contain the keyword as part of the title or description.
From the Menu screen, enter a keyword, such as 'market, for the program 'Mine to Market,' and click Search Listings.
Result: The Search Results screen displays.
Note: The keyword search may return results with any keyword in the title or program description.
Result: The Program Details screen displays.- To schedule this program for recording, click Schedule Recording (or click Back to Listings to continue searching)
All steps complete.
Schedule a Recording
After clicking the Schedule Recording link, the Schedule Result screen displays.
If the recording does not schedule successfully, the following message will display, indicating that the request has been sent.
This screen provides a confirmation that your record request has been sent.
Notes:
- Remote DVR scheduling sets up recordings on one DVR. If your home has more than one Cox DVR, be sure to check which DVR has the scheduled recording after using Remote DVR scheduling.
- If you receive an error message, ensure that:
- Your DVR is plugged in and powered on
- Your DVR is not at full capacity (disk full)
- The program you are trying to schedule has not already completed
- The program is on a channel that you can view at home
