Summary

This article provides steps on how to use the Spam button and SpamBlocker settings in Enhanced WebMail.

Solution

Overview

Spam is the equivalent of electronic junk mail or any unsolicited email. Totally preventing spam is as difficult as preventing regular junk mail, but WebMail provides a report spam feature to forward spam messages to an abuse center where an attempt will be made to filter the messages in the future.

There are three spam filtering options in Enhanced WebMail.

  • Delete incoming junk email automatically - this setting will remove junk email before it reaches the Inbox.
  • Deliver junk email to the WebMail Spam folder for later review - this creates a Spam folder and moves spam messages to that folder.
  • Tag junk email with "Spam" - the word "Spam" appears in the subject line and the email is delivered to the Inbox.

You can also move messages out of the Spam folder, into the Inbox using the Not Spam button.

1

  2. Click the Mark this message as SPAM button.

  3. Click Report as Spam.

Result: The Inbox displays and the spam message is sent to the Trash folder.

All steps complete.

2

Automatically Filter Spam

  1. From the WebMail Inbox window, click the preferences link.

Result: The MAIL PREFERENCES window displays.

  2. Click the SpamBlocker link.

  3. Select one of the spam options, to either delete the incoming spam, place it in the Spam folder, or tag it and receive it in the Inbox.

  4. Click the Save button.

  5. Click the Close button.

If the Spam folder option is checked, a folder is automatically created and cannot be renamed or deleted.

All steps complete.
