Last Updated: Sat, 07 May 2011 > Related Articles
Summary
Temporarily or permanently turn off the Parental Control so you can watch the programs.
Solution
There are 3 ways to turn off Parental Control:
- Unblock a single program or channel temporarily, so you can watch it.
- Unblock all content temporarily, so you can view all programs.
- Permanently unblock all content.
These steps are for a cable box providing DVR service, not a standard- or HD-only cable box.
Unblock a single program or recording
- Tune to a blocked program, or select a recording made from a blocked channel or rating.
- A message displays, indicating the content is blocked.
- Press SELECT to temporarily disable Parental Control.
- Enter your 4-digit Parental Control PIN.
- A message displays, asking if you want to unlock only the current channel (which has the program) or only the selected recording.
- Press the A button to unlock the single channel or recording.
Result: The single channel or recording is unlocked for the duration of the one program only.
Unblock all content
From Quick Settings
- Press the SETTINGS button.
- Highlight the Activate Parental Control option.
- Use the arrow button to move the dot to the No column.
- Enter your 4-digit Parental Control PIN.
- Press the A button, then the Exit button.
Result: All channels, programs, and times are unlocked. When you turn off the set-top box and then turn it back on, Parental Control will be automatically re-activated and the PIN will be required to view blocked content.
From General Settings
- Press the SETTINGS button, then the A button.
- Scroll to the Parental Control category and press SELECT.
- Scroll to the Locking Status preference and press SELECT.
- Highlight the Off (Auto Relock) option.
- Press SELECT.
- Enter your four-digit Parental Control PIN.
- Press the A button, then the EXIT button.
Result: Parental Control is now disabled and all channels, programs, titles, and times are unlocked. When you turn the cable box off and back on, Parental Control will be automatically re-activated and the PIN will be required to view blocked content.
Permanently unblock all content
