If you have two or more DVRs in your Whole Home Multi-DVR setup, you'll want to make sure that any DVR can be accessed by any receiver. Here's how.

Before you begin: Note that all of the settings mentioned below can be accessed by pressing the Settings button on the remote, selecting the Receivers option, then selecting the DVR Network option. Also, these settings only apply to cable boxes connected to a Cox Advanced TV Whole Home setup.

Name each cable box receiver. This makes it easier to find recordings, cancel recordings, and schedule recordings. It also makes it easier to hide a DVR's list of recordings for parental control or privacy. 

Common names you can use for the cable boxes are: Den, Master BR, Kids BR, Kitchen, LR, Game RM, and Basement. 

To create names, you'll go to each cable box whether it's a DVR or not, then go to its onscreen guide (Settings > Receivers > DVR Network > Change Name), and then enter a name for that cable box. In the following example, one of the DVRs is named "LIVING ROOM."

Assign a DVR for "One Touch Recording." The default DVR feature makes it easier to record. For example, let's assume you have two DVRs and one HD cable box that's not a DVR. From this HD cable box, you press RECORD. The onscreen guide asks you to select one of the DVRs for the recording. After you select a DVR, the onscreen guide asks if you want the selected DVR to become the "default DVR" for that HD cable box. Select yes if you want to RECORD with one click of the remote. Or select no, which means you'll manually select a DVR each time you press RECORD from the HD cable box..

Check the DVR List screen. To see all recordings from all DVRs combined, press the DVR List button once on the remote. If you press the DVR List button additional times, you'll see the recordings on each individual DVR. 

You'll notice that the DVR List screen also shows the DVRs by name and includes a "gas gauge" of available DVR space. In the example below, the DVR List is the "Combined DVR View" and the total amount of recording space available across all DVRs combined is "43% free."  

Option to Make a DVR "Invisible." You can make a DVR invisible to other cable boxes in the Whole Home setup for a number of reasons. Perhaps you don't  want kids or house guests to see the titles of recordings or to watch those recordings from other cable boxes. Maybe you don't want house members adding or deleting recordings on a particular DVR. In any case, you simply change the status of the DVR to invisible in the onscreen guide. You can switch back and forth between visible and invisible at any time. And even though a DVR is made invisible, it can still access all other DVRs that are in visible status.
