Solution

The design of the URC 8820, based on customer feedback, makes it easier and more efficient to use. You can perform many functions with one hand.

Type of FeatureDescriptionDo the following...
"All On" power buttonTurn on and off all of your programmed devices by pressing the Power button once.
  1. Aim the remote control at your devices.
  2. Press and hold the Power button for two seconds and then release the Power button.
  3. Continue to aim the remote at your devices until all of them turn on or off.

Note: If a device turns ON when the others turn OFF, manually turn OFF that device from its front panel so that it is in sync with the other devices.

Back lightingThe URC 8820 remote control provides a back lighting feature that makes it easy to use in dim light. You can also disable the back lighting feature, if you do not need it.
  1. To activate the back lighting feature, press and release the Light button.

    Note: The back lighting will turn off after 10 seconds of inactivity. To reactivate the back lighting, press and release the light key. Turning off the light feature when it is not required will help extend the battery life.

  2. To disable the back lighting feature, press the Light button for a few seconds.

Volume control can be set to an audio device instead of the TV

 

Let's you set the remote's VOL button to a separate audio device rather than the TV.

By default, the volume button on the remote is programmed to operate the TV volume. But, if you've connected a stereo, surround sound, or AV receiver to the TV or cable box and want to use that audio device to control the volume rather than the TV, then complete these steps: .

  1. Make sure the AUX button is already programmed to your audio receiver. You can use the quick steps or the auto-scan steps, which ever works best for you.
  2. Now set the AUX to control volume. First press and release the AUX button.
  3. Press and hold the Mute and Select buttons at the same time until the AUX button blinks twice then release both buttons.
  4. Press and release the VOL+ (volume up) button.
  5. Press and release the AUX button again. It will blink 2 times.
    Result: By default, the VOL button will now control the volume on the audio device.

To cancel the audio volume setting above, and restore volume control via the TV: 

  1. Press and hold the Mute and Select buttons at the same time until the AUX button blinks twice then release both buttons.
  2. Press and release the VOL- (volume down) button.
  3.  Press and release the AUX button.

 

Volume controlLet's you switch VOL control between an audio receiver and the TV.

The following steps give you the ability to switch volume back and forth between the AUX and TV audio devices.

  1. Make sure the AUX button is already programmed to your audio receiver, such as a stereo, surround sound, or AV receiver. You can use the quick steps or the auto-scan steps, which ever works best for you.
  2. Now set the AUX to control volume: Press and hold the Mute and Select buttons at the same time, until one of the device buttons (TV, DVD, AUX, Cable) blinks twice.
  3. Release both buttons.
  4. Press and release the VOL- (volume down) button.
  5. Press and release the AUX button. It will blink 2 times.

Result: At any time, you can press AUX, then VOL to control volume -- or press TV, then VOL to control volume.

Set the remote's VOL button to control a separate audio device.

 

Then set the remote's numeric buttons to switch between audio inputs on the audio device

  1. Make sure the AUX button is already programmed to your audio device (such as a stereo or surround sound receiver) which is connected to the cable box or TV. You can use the quick steps or the auto-scan steps, which ever works best for you.
  2. Now set the AUX to control volume: Press and hold the Mute and Select buttons at the same time, until one of the device buttons (TV, DVD, AUX, Cable) blinks twice.
  3. Release both buttons.
  4. Press and release the VOL - (volume down) button.
  5. Press and release the AUX button. It will blink 4 times.
  6. Now program the remote to access the volume of the radio/MP3/DVD inputs of the audio device. Press and hold the Mute and Select buttons at the same time, until one of the device buttons (TV, DVD, AUX, Cable) blinks twice.
  7. Release both buttons.
  8. Press and release the CH - (channel down) button.
  9. Press and release the AUX button. It will blink 4 times.
    Result: You can press AUX to switch inputs on the audio receiver. And press CABLE to control channels on the cable box.
Channel control can be set to the TV instead of the cable boxLet's you set the remote's CH + and CH - buttons, digit buttons, LAST button and ENTER button to operate the TV rather than the cable box.
  1. Press and release the TV button.
  2. Press and hod the MUTE and SELECT buttons at the same time until the TV button blinks twice, then release both buttons.
  3. Press and release the CH+ button.
  4. Press and release the TV button again.
    Result: These buttons now control the TV instead of the cable box: CH +, CH-, numerals 0 thru 9, LAST, ENTER.

To cancel the channel setting above, and restore channel control to the cable box:

  1. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT buttons at the same time until the TV button blinks twice.
  2. Press and release the CH - (channel down) button.
  3. Press and release the TV button.
