Solution
As of May 21, 2013 CoxSync is no longer available for download. Cox will continue to support this application until August 29, 2013.
The Conflicts tab enables user to define the rules to apply in case of conflict. By default, the conflicts resolution is automatic. This rule applies for all conflicts.
Note: By default, conflict rules are applied whenever a manual sync is started using the CoxSync Companion.
Click the CoxSync desktop icon.
Result: The CoxSync Companion page displays and automatically performs a sync.
Note: If you did not save your Cox login and Cox password, an Account login page displays. Follow the prompts to enter your Cox login and Cox password.
Select the Settings icon.
Result: The Settings page displays the following tabs:
- Account
- Application
- Connection
- Scheduling
- Conflicts
Click the Conflicts tab.
Result: The Conflicts rules page displays.

- Select the rule to apply during synchronization when there is a conflict. Use the following table to determine which rule to apply.
Note: After a sync is performed and two databases are updated seperately, there could be a potential conflict when the customer attempts to sync again -if the information from both databases does not match. The customer will need to decide how to resolve these types of conflicts.If selecting.... Then... Server wins (replace item on client) In the event of a conflict, the server takes precedence i.e.
server’s record replaces client’s record.Client wins (replace item on server) In the event of a conflict, the client takes precedence i.e. client’s record replaces server’s record. Merge data (merge item on server and client) If there is conflict between two fields, the client takes precedence, i.e. the client’s record replaces the server’s record. However, if both client and server store the last modification date, the most recent record takes precedence. Duplicate data (keep a copy of both items) In the event of conflict the records are duplicated. This means the client record is added on the server and the server record is added on the client. This conflict rule is not recommended because it could result in multiple duplications in multi-message mode. Let server choose conflict rule (default rule) The server chooses which conflict rule to apply. This choice is checked by default. - Click OK.
