Disabling the WiFi Signal on the Netgear CG3000D Home Gateway
Last Updated: Wed, 19 Dec 2012 > Related Articles
Summary
Customers can disable the WiFi on the Netgear CG3000D home gateway to use with their own standalone wireless router.
Solution
You may have a standalone router that you would like to continue to use and are having problems with connecting to your router. The gateway may be causing a conflict because the router portion of the device is also active. You can turn off the WiFi network of the gateway, turning it into a modem only, and be able to use your router without an issue.
Completing this procedure disables the SSID for the Netgear CG3000D Home Gateway. This allows customers to use their own standalone wireless router.
Customers must be connected directly to the gateway to perform these changes.
Once connected to the gateway, open a Web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, and enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar.
Result: The Login window displays.
Enter the login information:
- User - MSO
- Password - changeme
Enter the Child login information:
- User - admin
- Password - password
From the Netgear Residential Gateway Settings window:
- Click Wireless Settings under the Advanced heading on the left hand side of the window.
Result: The Advanced Wireless Settings window displays. - Click the Enable SSID Broadcast checkbox to remove the checkmark.
- Click the Apply button at the bottom of the window.
Result: The gateway no longer broadcasts a wireless signal.
