Solution
Access WebMail
To access Enhanced WebMail, complete the following steps.
- Visit www.cox.com.
- Click the Sign in to WebMail link.
- Enter the Cox.net User ID and Password.
- Select the Enhanced WebMail radio button, then click the Sign In button.
The cookie for saving the preference for either Classic WebMail or Enhanced WebMail is PC based and not username based. By default, the cookie is set to Classic but can be switched back and forth between the two WebMail applications at anytime by selecting the corresponding radio button on the WebMail sign in page.
Yes, all email messages, folders, filters, and user defined settings will be available in Enhanced WebMail.
Yes, Adobe Flash Player 8 is required. If needed, a prompt displays to download the software.
Manage Preferences
In Enhanced WebMail, Settings is now called Preferences. The following items are accessible through Preferences: Signatures, SpamBlocker, Blocked Senders, Filters, Vacation Message, Password, and Mail Forwarding.
No, by default the mailbox capacity warning is set to notify users when they reach 90% of their email storage space.
Manage Email
Unfortunately, due to limitations of the Adobe Flash player, cut, copy, and paste buttons are not available in Enhanced WebMail. However, these functions are available in Enhanced WebMail by right-clicking the mouse or by using the keyboard shortcuts (ctrl + x , ctrl + c, ctrl + v).
If a vacation message is set up in Classic WebMail, will it display in Enhanced WebMail?
Email signatures, like contacts / address book, and the setup for POP external accounts, only migrate to Enhanced WebMail upon initial sign in. Email signatures are not bi-directional meaning changes to signatures in Enhanced will not display in Classic and vice versa.
Managing Contacts
Upon initial sign in to Enhanced WebMail, all contacts and setup of external POP accounts will be imported from Classic WebMail. However, contacts and the setup for POP external accounts do not synchronize after the initial sign in. If a contact or POP account is added to Enhanced WebMail, it will not display in Classic WebMail and vice versa.
To show all contacts, click the button to the right of the Contacts search box. It will clear the search contents and return to a view of all contacts. Additionally, all contacts can be displayed by backspacing or manually deleting the search criteria.
Managing Folders
All custom folders are created at the same level. Sub-folders can be created by dragging a user created folder to the desired folder. Once the folder is dropped into the parent folder, a plus sign (+) displays next to the parent folder. Click the plus sign (+) next to the parent folder to display all sub-folders.
Troubleshooting WebMail
Refer to Use Cox Enhanced WebMail for a list of support articles.
Individual contacts added or imported to the Enhanced WebMail Contacts list that contain one or more of the following may be affected.
- Contact contains a semi-colon in the Email field.
- Contact has more than 50 characters in the First Name, Last Name, or Email field.
Note: All contacts that are not affected will import in to the Enhanced WebMail Contacts list.
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral. SSL is an industry standard and is used by millions of websites in the protection of their online transactions with their customers.
If signing in to WebMail via a non-secure Internet connection, like at a coffee shop or a public wireless or non-encrypted network, an email account may be more vulnerable to hijacking. HTTPS, or Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure, is a secure protocol that provides authenticated and encrypted communication.
No, SSL is a free service provided by Cox.
SSL is automatically used whenever Cox customers sign in to WebMail from any web browser, regardless of where they are.
