Solution
Before installing the USB drivers, perform the following actions:
- Insert Cable Modem Driver CD in the CD Drive.
Note: If CD auto runs, close startup window. - Power on modem.
- Connect USB cable
- Turn on computer, if it is not already on.
Result: New Device wizard will open once modem is detected by windows.
Click Locate and install driver software (recommended).

Result: A bubble from the taskbar indicates that the device driver software is being installed.
Click the bubble on the desktop to view the status of the installation.

Result: If the computer has the drivers, a window displays showing the driver's stage of installation.
Once the driver has been successfully installed, Windows displays a status window indicating successful completion. Click Close.

Result: The adapter is installed and ready for use.
If the computer does not have the drivers, a window displays with two options: one for windows to find a solution and one to browse the computer for the drivers.
Click Browse my computer for driver software (advanced).

Click Browse and select the CD or DVD drive, then click Next.

Result: A window displays the message The software for this device has been successfully installed.
Click Close.

Result: The adapter is ready to be configured.
