Summary

This article provides steps on how to block or unblock external images in WebMail.

Solution

Spam and other types of messages sometimes contain images that notify the sender that the email address which opened the message is valid. This may increase the amount of junk mail sent to that email address.

The External Images setting on the Privacy page provides an option for blocking these external images, so they do not display. Instead, a “Blocked Images” message will display where the picture would have appeared. Any images received as attachments remain unaffected.

1

From the WebMail Inbox window, click Settings.

Result: The Message Settings window displays.

2

Click Privacy.

Result: The Privacy window displays.

3

Under External Images, choose whether to block unwanted images or to allow all images in HTML.

Note: If the first option is chosen, any blocked images will prompt the notification "Blocked." Images received as attachments are not affected by this option.

4

Click OK.

All step complete.
