The secret word (central station passcode) validates that you have authority when speaking with the Central Monitoring Station (CMS) and it is also used to cancel a false alarm. These steps describes how to change your secret word in the Cox Home Security Subscriber portal and on the touchscreen.
Note: Make your Secret Word easy to remember, pronounce and spell. This will ensure your secret word is accepted by the CMS when canceling an alarm. 

Managing the Secret Word Through the Subscriber Portal

To change the secret word, select Security > Emergency Dispatch Setup on the toolbar off the Subscriber Portal homepage.


Result: The Emergency Dispatch Setup page displays.

Click Unlock To View/Edit.


Result: The Account Verification window displays.

Enter the Keypad Master Code.


Result: The current Secret Word (central station passcode) displays.

Enter a new Secret Word and click SAVE to accept the changes or CANCEL to exit.

Managing the Secret Word on the Touchscreen

To change the secret word, select Settings >Advanced Settings>Security Secret Word on the Touchscreen.


Result: The Set Security Secret Word screen displays.

To change the secret word, touch the Secret Word field.


Result: A keyboard displays that enables you to change the secret word.

Enter the new secret word.

Click DONE to save the changes or CANCEL to exit.
