Cox High Speed Internet customers are occasionally targeted by fake emails that appear to be from Cox. These emails -- also known as phishing (pronounced 'fishing') schemes -- may appear in different forms. All will claim to be from Cox and some may even look very official. Cox has not and will not send any email to customers requesting them to verify any account information.
Should you receive such an email, Cox recommends you simply delete it. These emails are fraudulent and do not originate from Cox. In many cases, customers are being targeted in order to gain specific information:
- Information is requested due to a bogus system failure or other such "claim."
- This request usually includes:
- Your Name (current or maiden)
- Your Primary or Secondary email address
- Your account password
- Other personal or account information

- Do not click on links in unsolicited emails.
- Delete suspected fake email promptly
- Protect your personal information at all times
- Change your passwords frequently.
