Summary
This procedure describes how to configure file and printer sharing in Windows XP.
Solution
Warning: Do not change a Domain to a Workgroup.
Changing to Workgroup will require an administrator password to log onto the PC. The customer may not have or remember this password.
From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

From the Control Panel window, click Network and Internet Connections.

From the Network and Internet Connections window, click Network Connections.

From the Network Connections window, right-click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties.

From the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box, click Install.

From the Select Network Component Type dialog box, select Service, and then click Add.

From the Select Network Service dialog box, under Network Service, select File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks. Click OK.
NOTE: After clicking OK, Windows will install any needed drivers. The customer may be prompted to insert the Windows and/or printer driver disks.

From the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box, click OK.

Close the Network Connections window by clicking the red 'X'.

All steps complete.
