Solution
File and print sharing can be enabled or disabled in different ways:
- From the Network Connections Window
- From the Network and Sharing Center
To perform the following action, you must be logged into Administrative user mode and have access to the Administrator password in case you are prompted for it.
From the Network Connections Window
From the Start menu, right-click Network then select Properties.

Result: The Network Connections window displays.
Under Tasks located on the left-hand side of the window, click Manage network connections.

Result: The Network and Sharing Center window displays.
Right click on the correct Local Area Connection or Wireless Network Connection, then click Properties.

| If logged in... | Then... |
|---|---|
| With admin rights | Click Continue to open the Network Connection Properties window. |
| Without admin rights | When prompted, enter Admin password to enable or disable the Local Area Connection. |
Result: The Network Connection Properties window displays.
Uncheck File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks.

Click OK.
Result: Network Connection Properties window closes.
- Click X to close the Network Connections window.
- Click X to close the Network and Sharing Center.
From the Network and Sharing Center
From the Start menu, right-click Network then select Properties.

Result: The Network and Sharing Center window displays.
Click On next to File sharing.

Select Turn off file sharing, then click Apply.

Result: After selecting Apply, the User Account Control window displays and the window behind it goes black.

| With admin rights | Click Continue to enable or disable the Local Area Connection. |
| Without admin rights | When prompted, enter Admin password to enable or disable the Local Area Connection. |
Result: File sharing and Printer sharing are turned off.

Select Turn off network discovery, then click Apply.

Result: After selecting Apply, the User Account Control window displays and the window behind it goes black.
