Pair Charged With Workers' Comp Fraud

11-06-2009 02:32 AM MST | By ###David Rucker/psl ND)
(Tulsa, OK) -- An attorney and a former attorney have been charged with embezzling workers' compensation funds intended for their clients. The state attorney general's office says William Anton and Fred Schraeder bilked well over one-million dollars. Anton surrendered his law license in 2007, but authorities say he continued his practice illegally. Prosecutors say in multiple instances, the two would settle clients' cases, and without informing the clients, simply diverted the settlement money to themselves. Anton is accused in one count of collecting 250-thousand-dollars in life insurance benefits. Both are in Tulsa police custody.<
