Hippodrome May Be Restored To Original splendor

(Richmond, VA) -- The Hippodrome Theater was once the venue for such artists as Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, and Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. LInes stretched along 2nd Street by fans eager to see their favorite stars. The historic icon has deteriorated over the years, but plans are on the table to revive the famous Richmond landmark. City Council members have received a request to provide 600-thousand dollars to help finance the project that could carry a price tag of 12-million dollars. Council may vote on the issue before the end of the year.
