Former Deacon Sentenced For Rape

11-03-2009 08:10 AM EST | By ###Ron Edwards/kbr
(Richmond, VA) -- Oscar A. Rivera-Licona will spend the next 33 years in prison. The woman who was raped at gunpoint last year forgave the former head deacon of the Richmond Evangelistic Center of Seventh-day Adventist, even though he questioned the truth despite DNA evidence tying him to the crime. Chesterfield County Circuit Court Judge Ernest P. Gates Jr. reminded the Honduras native he had pleaded no contest to attacking the woman in Chesterfield Village Apartments. Rivera-Licona is also suspected of kidnapping a teenage girl while she walked to school in February.
