(Los Angeles, CA) -- LAPD Chief-Designate Charlie Beck gave his son a very special police badge today at a ceremony for recruits at the LAPD Academy. After an emotional speech, Beck presented his son, Martin, with the badge he wore as a Los Angeles Police Officer. Beck said there's a special message on the back. It says cops count, character counts, do the right thing, and you can be the difference. Martin Beck is expected to graduate from the Police Academy in December.
