LAPD Warn About Sexual Predator In Mid-City Los Angeles

11-04-2009 08:12 AM PST | By ###Sandy Wells/Sharon Dale/Suzanne Wilson/gc LAX) OC) VEN) IE)
(Los Angeles, CA) -- Police are warning female motorists about a sexual predator who poses as a Good Samaritan in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles. The suspect uses a ruse to get women driving to pull their cars to the curb and then offers to help them before he sexually assaults them. Police have dubbed this person the "Sparking Brakes" suspect. He is believed to have assaulted women starting in August this year. He generally pulls up along side the car driving his 1990s white compact car and tells a lone female driver that her car is "sparking." He instructs the victim to pull over and then offers to check her brakes and tires. Once in close proximity to the victims, he sexually assaults them. Police say the assaults have all taken place weekdays between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. They also say that the suspect's behavior has become more aggressive and are asking anyone with information to call 1-877-LAPD-24-7.
