Governor Signs Water Bill For California

11-06-2009 05:17 AM PST | By ###Steven Behm/Sandy Wells/Richard Santiago/Kitt Sami/mwa LAX) OC) IE) VEN)
(Los Angeles, CA) -- Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation today aimed at rebuilding California's water system. The governor said for decades the state's water infrastructure has been ignored. He said the system was designed for 18-million people, far fewer than the current population of 38-million. Schwarzenegger says in the past it's been farmer against environmentalist, Democrats against Republicans, businesses against labor, north against south and this is how it's been. It's hoped the 40-billion-dollar project will pay for water storage, new canals and fixing the Delta ecosystem.
