Tonight's Picks

Tommy Boy

COM

Want to see Rob Lowe as a villain? Rent "Wayne's World." Want to see David Spade playing smarmy? Watch "Rules of Engagement." Want to see Chris Farley being funny? Catch some "Saturday Night Live" reruns from the early to mid-1990s. Any one of those is preferable to this lame 1995 comedy starring Farley as a dimwitted underachiever who teams up with an efficient but obnoxious accountant (Spade) to save the family business. When it comes to bringing the laughs, the movie's an underachiever, too.

MLB Baseball

TBS

National League playoff contenders go at it today at Turner Field, where Justin Upton and the East-leading Atlanta Braves close out a four-game series against Adrian Gonzalez and the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers. Upton and a solid, youthful rotation have led the way for the Braves in the early going, while a lackluster offense and porous team defense have held the Dodgers back.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

FXEAST

The war between the Autobots and the Decepticons rages anew, with young Sam (Shia LaBeouf) still caught in the middle, in returning director Michael Bay's relentlessly noisy, almost completely incoherent action sequel inspired by the Hasbro toy line. Optimus Prime (voice of Peter Cullen) again leads the assault on Megatron (voice of Hugo Weaving) and other enemies, while Mikaela (Megan Fox) does what she can to help Sam. Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro also return from the original cast.

Underdog

TOON

There's no need to fear; just keep your remote near. This 2007 live-action take on the classic cartoon will break the heart of anyone who knew and loved the original. Jason Lee ("My Name Is Earl") -- who's built up quite a resume voicing former 1960s 'toon icons ("Alvin and the Chipmunks") -- provides the voice of the hound who becomes a superhero after a lab accident gives him powers. Kids who haven't seen the cartoon won't care, but for anyone who has, comparisons are inevitable, and this one is, well, a dog.

The Cleveland Show

FOX

When Cleveland receives an unexpected invitation from Freight Train to attend an event together, Dr. Fist thinks that dementia might be behind the older man's newfound friendliness. The kids' busy schedules have Cleveland and Donna feeling overwhelmed in the hourlong season finale, "Crazy Train; Wheel! Of! Family!" Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad") provides a guest voice.

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards
ABC

Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Prince, Bruno Mars and Miguel are among the artists scheduled to perform at this year's event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Prince is also receiving the Billboard Icon Award. Tracy Morgan hosts the festivities.

The Simpsons

FOX

In the one-hour season finale, Homer, Moe, Lenny and Carl win a $200,000 lottery jackpot, but when Carl absconds to Iceland with all the money, the others follow him there to get it back. After she mistakes a dating site for a baking site, Marge is pursued by a charming fellow (voice of Seth MacFarlane) who shares her taste in television. Lisa Lampanelli also provides a guest voice in "The Saga of Carl; Dangers on a Train."

Call the Midwife

PBS

Chummy and PC Noakes (Miranda Hart, Ben Caplan) meet with new challenges as they settle back into life in Poplar. Fred (Cliff Parisi) is in high spirits when his pregnant daughter Dolly (Ella Smith) and her son come to stay with him. Jenny's (Jessica Raine) jubilation comes in the form of a potential love interest. Old buildings are being demolished to make way for new flats, a situation that reaches a crisis point when the convent comes under threat.

River Monsters: Year of Beasts

River Monsters: Year of Beasts
APL

This new special looks back at Jeremy Wade's best moments of Season 5 so far, including a mission to Chernobyl's nuclear wastelands in search of a giant mutant fish, a trip to Nicaragua to capture a killer torpedo and a quest on American soil in pursuit of a prehistoric underwater vampire.

ACM Presents: Tim McGraw's Superstar Summer Night

CBS

Not for country fans only, this special has McGraw performing with and introducing a diverse lineup of artists that includes Nelly, Ne-Yo, Pitbull and John Fogerty. The Band Perry, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley and McGraw's wife, Faith Hill, are also in the lineup.

North America

DSC

This seven-part natural history series from some of the producers of "Planet Earth" spent three years covering the continent of North America, from the Canadian tundra to the tropical Central American rain forests. It kicks off tonight with "Born to Be Wild," in which a journey across the continent introduces some of its wildest places and an incredible array of wildlife, from mountain goats to sea turtles.

Family Guy

FOX

Stewie's time machine malfunctions when he and Brian use it to catch a Bette Midler concert in Las Vegas, creating alternative versions of each of them -- one lucky and one unlucky. The Griffins are invited to join an elite country club, with the expected disastrous results, in the one-hour season finale, "Road to Vegas; No Country Club for Old Men."
