Celebrating Diversity

At Cox, we believe it’s important for our workforce to reflect the markets we serve. To this end, Cox is dedicated to developing a work environment that provides open communication, fair and equitable treatment to promote employee diversity and individuality. In this same vein, Cox is an active supporter of important diversity initiatives. As such, we are committed to supporting the good works of nonprofit organizations that actively seek to enhance the quality of life for all Middle Georgians regardless of race, religion, background or gender.

Cox 2009 Gospel Concert

In partnership with BET, Cox Communications hosted its second annual Gospel Celebration featuring the award-winning group Mary Mary on June 6th in Macon, GA. The event was an outstanding success and a true testament to Cox’s commitment to supporting the Middle Georgia community and important diversity initiatives.

The Gospel Celebration was founded to serve as a Cox Middle Georgia Diversity Council initiative, through which African Americans are recognized for their outstanding contributions to the music industry. In 2008, Cox hosted its inaugural Gospel Celebration featuring Bryon Cage.  Over 5,000 Middle Georgians attended the first-year performance.

Tickets for the 2009 Gospel Celebration were made free to new customers and to customers who upgraded their Cox services. Cox customers and non-Cox customers were also invited to attend for a nominal fee. A portion of these proceeds totaling $10,000 was donated onstage to Feed the City, a Cox-sponsored diversity initiative through which approximately 1500 local families are provided with Thanksgiving meals each year.
