Commitment to Education
Cox Communications - Commitment to Education

At Cox Las Vegas, we feel strongly that youth and education programs are the cornerstone of our company outreach. That's why education, specifically technology, is a top priority and the main focus of our education outreach in Southern Nevada. Two of the programs that we support are highlighted below:
Andre Agassi College Prepatory Academy: A Cox Model Technology School
Andre Agassi College Prepatory Academy located in an underserved area in Las Vegas was chosen as Cox's sixth Model Technology School in 2001. At Aggassi, educators use a comprehensive e-Learning program to teach students Internet technology skills essential for success in a global economy - skills they might not otherwise learn.
Cox's sophisticated cable technology connects the school's students, teachers and administrators to an endless library of global resources such as video programming and online information. Cox's Line to Learning program engages students in recent technological advances, providing unique opportunities like online research capabilities and multi-media presentations, and exclusive distance learning experiences. Cox's Cable in the Classroom program introduces educational programming into the classroom to create an interactive learning environment. Technology experts, educators and community leaders jointly developed the school's unique web-based curriculum, online assessment, hands-on labs, instructor training and ongoing support plan to grow the school's technology-focused education program.
The Agassi School is also connected to the local library and to Nevada Partners, a part of another community partnership known as the Cox Community Learning Center, providing underserved students in the center's after-school program with technology-based activities and resources to complete homework assignments and research projects. Through Cox's technology commitment, students receive access to new information and communications technology to nurture their interest in "fun" educational experiences and provide access to online information available through cable's fiber-optic technology.
Cox is proud to partner with Andre Agassi, who's directly involved with the school through his Foundation. Agassi has been deeply involved with the community of Las Vegas since 1996 when he developed the Andre Agassi Boys and Girls Club. One of our major philanthropic goals - education technology-- is to create economic and social value for underserved communities globally through new models of private, public and nonprofit partnership and collaboration. We focus on providing the resources needed to create sustainable programs that help students achieve great things.
Career on Wheels
Cox's Careers on Wheels is a unique and exciting program for Clark County Schools Career Day events. Careers on Wheels provides students a variety of careers, links schools with the world of work, and allows students to meet positive career role models. Cox Communications provides a team of dedicated employees to visit and present information in an innovative way to education children about working at Cox Communications. Bucket trucks, poles and trucks are brought to the school for a "show and tell" demonstration giving students an opportunity to examine, explore, question, and learn about a variety of careers available at Cox Communications. For more information on how your school can receive these services please contact us at (702) 545-1005.
