Cox encourages every employee to volunteer as individuals or as part of Cox Connects Day. Being an active, hands-on part of our communities is an integral part of the culture at Cox. We've recognized quite a few employees with the Volunteer of the Quarter program. Here's your chance to meet some of the program's outstanding recipients.
LaSean Gray, Marketing Sales Support Representative - Cox Volunteer of the Year, 2010
LaSean works as a Young Women’s Mentor including scholarship fundraising and general guidance. She has volunteered with this group for over thirteen years. Gray also volunteers at Old Dominion University with a group of young women called Destined. She has been a critical part to the group’s efforts towards having a successful Relay for Life campaign.
Bud Swanson, Construction Project Coordinator - Cox Volunteer of the Quarter, Q4, 2010
Bud is an active volunteer with the Lower King & Queen Volunteer Fire Department where he is responsible for maintaining a level of training in fire suppression, scene safety, fire prevention, EMS, as well as maintaining the department’s radios and communication equipment. Bud serves as the department’s secretary, radio officer and chairmen of the fire prevention committee.
Jason Lowe, Test Desk Supervisor - Cox Volunteer of the Quarter, Q3, 2010
Jason is an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 103 in Williamsburg. With more than 70 scouts in the troop, they meet once a week for meetings and go camping once a month. Jason works closely with the troop members, plans the camping trips and also plans, leads and attends the week long summer camp with the scouts. Additionally, Jason designed and maintains the troop’s website.
Occasio Gee, Public Affairs - Cox Volunteer of the Quarter, Q1, 2010
Occasio volunteers with numerous groups in his community. He serves on the board of the United Way Young Leader’s Society and the board for Old Dominion Black Alumni Association. He also serves as a commissioner for Parks & Recreation for the city of Portsmouth. In addition, Occasio volunteers as an advisor for Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc at Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University in his role as Area Director and President of the Beta Sigma Chapter.
