(Hartford, CT) -- With it almost time to fill out the 2010 Census, the Better Business Bureau wants to warn residents about scams related to the Census. The BBB says there could be scammers posing as census workers trying to get information to help them commit identity theft. Any person associated with the Census Bureau will have an identification badge and will never ask for social security numbers or bank account numbers. The BBB also says the Census bureau will never contact through the computer, via email or other websites. The federal government wants to get an accurate count of the number of residents so filling out the ten question survey is required by law.
