Fire Displaces Residents

11-07-2009 03:47 AM EST | By ###Rebecca Manriquez/ddw
(Ellington, CT) -- A fire at an apartment complex in Ellington has displaced several residents. Fire officials say they were called to the Autumn Chase Apartments just before noon yesterday. They say the fire started in the garage of a unit and quickly spread upstairs destroying one unit and damaging others. Eight units had to be evacuated because of the smoke and water damage, with 12 people left without a place to stay. Fire officials say a woman was in the unit when the fire began, but was able to get out and call 911.
