Today Is Election Day, Local Races Only

11-03-2009 03:35 AM EST | By ###Ted Lorson/psl FFC)
(Hartford, CT) -- Today is Election Day, but it's an off year when only municipal races and ballot questions will be decided. Last year was a presidential election, which pushed voter turnout over 75-percent. Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz says she expects a much lower turnout this year, as municipal elections usually don't draw more than 40-percent of the state's more than two million registered voters. The polls are open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. in Connecticut. Ballots will be cast using optical scan voting machines in all precincts in the state.
