Cox Charities New England, a charitable giving initiative of Cox Communications, supports local non-profits after-school programs for children in our local communities. Cox Charities New England is funded entirely by the company's 1,200 New England employees and its business vendors.

Non-profit organizations interested in applying for 2012 Cox Charities Community Grant must submit a proposal by December 15, 2011.
About Cox Charities Community Grants - Fueled by the critical need to engage children when they are most vulnerable to negative social pressure, Cox Charities New England provides Community Grants to non-profit organizations that support academic achievement during the out-of-school timeframe.
Annually Cox Charities awards community grants in the range of $5,000 to $15,000 to organizations that support after-school programs in the communities were we live and serve.
Grant Process: Applications are accepted electronically each fall. The Cox Charities Advisory Group review applications that are submitted within the application period.

Funding Criteria: Proposals will be judged on the degree to which the following criteria are met:
Organizations must:
- Have current exemption under 501( c )(3) of the IRS code
- Serve areas within Cox’s New England service areas: the State of Rhode Island; Meriden, Cheshire, Southington, East Granby, East Windsor, Enfield, Granby, Hartland, Somers, Stafford, Suffield, Union, Windsor Locks, Manchester, Glastonbury, Newington, Rocky Hill, South Windsor, and Wethersfield, Connecticut.
- Directly focus on after-school programming and must follow the traditional school day during the school year.
- Focused on increasing academic achievement and the positive development of youth.
- Preference will be given to programs that collaborate closely with low performing middle schools, as defined by the State Department of Education.
- The proposal must describe how the program is evaluated, including outcomes measurement.
- The program must be cost effective.
- 2011 Community Grant recipients must include outcome measures from the previous year (Proposals that do not include the previous year’s outcome measures will not be accepted for review).
- Incomplete and late applications will not be considered.
Grants are issued annually. The Cox Charities Community Advisory Committee reviews, ranks and selects the final grant recipients.
