Soldier Bonus, Livestock Board Issues Pass Easily

11-04-2009 03:35 AM EST | By ###John McDade/Tom Roberts/JQ Lawrence
(Cleveland, OH) -- Unlike Issue 3, two statewide ballots had no problem passing last night. Issue 1, the constitutional amendment that would allow the state to borrow 200-million dollars in bonds in order to pay a one-thousand-dollar bonus to soldiers that served in Iraq and Afghanistan, easily won passage. Issue 2, the measure that would create an Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board also passed by a wide margin. The board will, among other things, set standards for livestock and poultry care -- thwarting the efforts of the U.S. Humane Society and animal activists to intervene in animal treatment and care issues.
