(Cleveland, OH) -- Voters are apparently fed up at the allegations of corruption in Cuyahoga County as Issue 6 was predicted to pass by a 2 to 1 margin. The measure would change the county charter, replacing three commissioners with an elected executive and a county council. The measure would also do away with key elected offices, including sheriff and auditor. The backers of Issue 6, including prosecutor Bill Mason, say all of this will lead to a more transparent and accountable government. Heightening the voters call for change was the apparent big defeat of Issue 5, which was getting just 28-percent of the vote by midnight. Issue 5, seen as a weaker alternative to Issue 6, would have delayed any government changes and create a commission to recommend changes.
