Solution
The Cox Digital Interactive M1054 Remote Control is set to control the volume of a device:
- Through your TV while in TV, AUX, DVD, or CBL mode
- Through the audio device when in AUD mode
Change the Volume Lock setting if:
- The TV cannot be controlled with a remote control.
- You want the volume to be controlled by a device not associated with the current mode.
For example, you can set the remote control to control the volume through the cable receiver when in TV mode.
Volume Lock affects the following buttons:
- VOL+
- VOL -
- MUTE

To lock the Volume Lock for an individual device when Volume Lock is active for all devices, perform the following steps:
- On the remote control, press, once, the mode button for which you want to program Volume Lock.

- Press and hold the SETUP button until the selected mode button blinks twice, then release the SETUP button.
Using the number buttons on the remote, enter 9 - 9 - 3.
Result: The selected mode button blinks twice.Press the VOL- button once.
Result: The last-selected mode button blinks four times. The volume control buttons control the volume for the device only when in the device's mode.
All steps complete.
To unlock the Volume Lock for all devices, perform the following steps:
- Press and hold the SETUP button until the last-selected mode button blinks twice, then release the SETUP button.
Using the number buttons on the remote, enter 9 - 9 - 3.
Result: The last-selected mode button blinks twice.Press the VOL+ button once.
Result: The last-selected mode button blinks four times. Volume control buttons work for each device only when in the device's mode.
All steps complete.
To lock the Volume Lock, perform the following steps:
Performing these steps allows you to access the volume control for the audio device in all modes.
- Press and hold the SETUP button until the last-selected mode button blinks twice, then release the SETUP button.
Using the number buttons on the remote, enter 9 - 9 - 3.
Result: The last-selected mode button blinks twice.Press the mode button for the mode in which you want the volume controls to work.
Result: The selected mode button blinks twice. Regardless of which mode the remote control is in, the volume control buttons control the device associated with the mode selected in step 2.
