Learn about the available ports and an explanation of the status lights on a RCA DCM425 cable modem.
The RCA DCM425 is a DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem.
After the cable modem has successfully registered on the network, the Cable Link and Internet indicators illuminate continuously to indicate that the cable modem is online and fully operational. For more details, refer to the Modem Lights section.
The RCA DCM425 has the following ports available on the back of the modem:
- Power - Connects the cable modem to the power adapter.
- Reset - Resets the cable modem.
- ETHERNET - Connects to the Ethernet port on your computer.
- USB - Connects to the USB port on your computer.
- Cable - Connects to the cable wall outlet.
The RESET button is for maintenance purposes only. For more details, refer to the Modem Lights section.
The modem lights indicate the current status of your cable modem. To troubleshoot any connection problems, use the table below.

By pressing the Internet On/Off button, it will put the modem in stand-by mode. In stand-by mode the cable Activity LED will be off, and the connection to the internet will be lost.

|Off||Unable to detect computer connection.||Verify Ethernet/USB cable connections, the TCP/IP settings and the NIC. You might need to reinstall the NIC drivers. If this does not resolve the issue, contact Customer Support.|
|Flashing green||Looking for cable connection.||Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem. If connection is OK and modem reset does not correct the problem, contact Customer Support.|
