Program the Channel Control Buttons on the Cox Digital Interactive AT8400

Summary

This article describes how to set the channel controls to work with a specified device OR with the device associated with the current mode.

Solution

The Cox Digital Interactive AT8400 Remote Control is programmed to control channels in one of the following ways:

  • For a specified device, regardless of the current mode (Note: In AUX mode, the remote always controls channels for the device assigned to the AUX button.)
  • For the device associated with the current mode

Note: To test your remote to see how it currently controls the channels, press the following buttons, which are controlled by the channel control settings:

  • 0 - 9
  • CH+
  • CH-
  • FAV
  • LAST

Note: Specifying that the channel controls work only with the cable box ensures that you do not accidentally change the TV off of the channel required for viewing cable and auxiliary devices properly (usually 3 or 4).

This article describes how to:

Press and hold the SELECT button and the CBL button until all mode buttons blink twice.

Using the number buttons on the remote control, enter 99 - 7.

Result: The CBL button blinks twice.

Press the mode button associated with the device you want the channel controls to control.

Result:

  • All mode buttons blink three times.
  • The channel controls always control the device associated with the mode you selected in this step, regardless of the current mode of the remote control.

All steps complete.

Result: The CBL button blinks twice.

Press the SELECT button.

Result:

  • All mode buttons blink three times.
  • The channel controls always control the device associated with the current mode of the remote control.
