Open Thunderbird.

From the Tools menu, select Account Settings.

Click the Account Actions button and select Add Mail Account.

Enter your email account details and click Continue.

Thunderbird will attempt to determine your account settings based on the domain portion of your email address. You can abort this by clicking Stop. In either case, the Mail Account Setup screen will appear.

Edit the server names and port information:

• Incoming is pop.coxmail.com
• Select POP in the first drop-down list
• The port for incoming mail (POP) is 995

Click Manual Setup.

Note: If you are configuring email for your smartphone, use IMAP configuration instead, outlined below.

Click Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the left-hand menu.

In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings box, select the email account and click Edit.

Enter the correct outgoing server name and port information:

• Server name is smtp.coxmail.com
• Port is 465
• Select User name and password
• User Name is the customer's email address
• Select Use secure authentication
• Connection security is SSL/TLS

Click OK.

Click OK.

All steps complete.

Configuring IMAP

If you are using IMAP for your incoming mail server, the Mail Account Setup screen in Step 6 should be configured as follows:

• Edit the server names and port information:
• Incoming is imap.coxmail.com
• Select IMAP in the first drop-down list
• The port for incoming mail (IMAP) is 993
• Select SSL/TLS in the second drop-down list

Click Manual Setup
