Summary

This article describes how to use Power Control to control only the device associated with the current mode (TV, VCR, AUX, or CBL) or for multiple devices at once, based on the selected mode.

Solution

The Cox Digital Interactive AT8400 Remote Control is programmed to control power in one of the following ways:

  • For only the device associated with the current mode (TV, VCR, AUX, or CBL).
  • For one device or for multiple devices at once, based on the selected mode.

Example: In CBL mode, the POWER button controls both the cable receiver and the TV at the same time.

You can customize the power control to control one device at a time or multiple devices.

Notes:

  • Cox recommends that you program the remote to turn off the cable receiver each time you turn off your TV to:
    • Save energy.
    • Reduce wear-and-tear on high-end cable converters that contain hard drives for recording and storing programs.
  • When you turn off the cable receiver using the remote control, the cable receiver goes into power saving mode. As long as the cable receiver remains plugged in, it will continue to receive programming updates and, if applicable, record programs and movies.
  • If the POWER button controls multiple devices at once, the remote returns to CBL mode after the devices are turned on or off.
  • If the POWER button controls multiple devices at once, yet you want to turn off or on just one device, then:
    1. Press the mode button associated with the individual device you want to turn on or off.
    2. Press the POWER button within three seconds.
