Creating a Cox Shared Folder on the Desktop of the Primary Mac

Learn how to create a Cox shared folder on the desktop of the primary Mac.


  1. Go to File menu.
  2. Select Find.

  3. Enter search string “Mac OS Setup Assistant”.
  4. Click on the magnifying glass.
  5. Double click on the Application under Name.

  6. This will start the Mac OS Setup Assistant wizard which can be used to automatically set up File Sharing on the Primary Mac with the Cox Shared folder out on the desktop.
  7. Read and enter through each successive window of the wizard until you get to step 8.
    • This is the Computer Name selection window. Have the customer enter a unique computer name. You must also indicate a password.
  8. Click the right arrow below.

  9. This is where you set up a shared folder.
  10. Click Yes.
  11. Type Cox Shared in the name field.
  12. Click the right arrow.

  13. Click Go Ahead.
    • This wizard may lead you into the Internet Setup wizard which you can just quit out of.

  14. The Cox Shared folder should now appear on your desktop.
