Enabling and Disabling the Firewall in Windows XP

Summary

Follow these steps to enable or disable the firewall in Windows XP.

Solution

  1. Click the Start Button then select the Control Panel
  2. Click the Network and Internet Connections icon.
  3. When asked to pick a task, select Network Connections at the bottom.

  4. Right click on your local Area Connection, Select properties.

  5. Click the Advanced tab.
    To disable the firewall remove the check in the box under Internet Connection Firewall.
    To enable to firewall ensure there is a check mark in the check box under Internet Connection Firewall.
