The Motorola SB5120 is a DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem.

After the cable modem has successfully registered on the network, the Power, Receive, Send, and Online lights are on and the PC/Activity light flashes when the cable modem is transferring data. For more details, refer to the Modem Lights section.
Modem Lights
The modem lights indicate the current status of your cable modem. To troubleshoot any connection problems, use the table below.

| Modem in Standby - Press the standby button to restore back to normal. |

| Modem Light | Status | Problem | Solution |

| Power | Off | No power. | Verify power supply connections, the power switch on the modem itself, the electrical outlet, and make sure the outlet is not connected to a switch. |
| Flashing | An error has occurred during normal operation. | Verify coaxial cable connection and try resetting the modem. If cable is ok and reset does not work, contact Customer Support. | |
| Receive | Flashing | Scanning for a receive (downstream) channel connection | Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem. If cable is OK and modem reset does not work, contact Customer Support. |
| Off | No connection cable Connection | Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem. If cable is OK and modem reset does not work, contact Customer Support. | |
| Send | Flashing | Scanning for a send (upstream) channel connection | Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem. If cable is OK and modem reset does not work, contact Customer Support. |
| Online | Flashing | Scanning for the network connection. | Verify all cable connections and try resetting the modem. If cable is OK and modem reset does not work, contact Customer Support. |
| PC/Activity | Flashing | None. Transmitting or receiving data | N/A |
| Standby | On | Internet service is blocked because the Standby button was pressed. If this light is on, all other lights are off. | Press Standby button. |
