To set the volume controls to control the volume through a different device:

Press and hold the SETUP button until the red light blinks twice, and then release the SETUP button.

Using the number buttons, enter 9 - 9 - 3.

Result: The red light blinks twice.

Press the mode button associated with the device for which you want the volume controls to control volume.
