Disabling the Firewall in Windows XP

Summary
Follow these steps to disable the built-in firewall in Windows XP.
Solution
If you are using Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) or earlier:
- Click Start and select Control Panel.
- If in Classic View, double-click on Network Connections. If in Category View, click on Network and Internet Connections and then click Network Connections.
- Right-click on Local Area Connection and select Properties.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Remove the check mark for "Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet.
- Click OK then Click Yes on the confirmation window.
If you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2):
- Click Start and select Control Panel.
- If in Classic View, double-click on Network Connections. If in Category View, click on Network and Internet Connections and then click Network Connections.
- Right-click on Local Area Connection and select Properties.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click Setup.
- Select "Turn Off" and click OK.
- Click Yes on the confirmation window.
The Windows XP firewall is now disabled.
All steps complete.
