Turn Captions On or Off, HD Cable Box

Summary

Follow these steps to turn Closed Captioning on or off on your HD cable box.

Solution

To turn on Closed Captioning, follow these steps:

  1. Press the SETTINGS button, then press the A button.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to scroll to the LANGUAGE section.
  3. Scroll to Closed Captioning and press the right arrow.
  4. Press the right arrow again and highlight the ON option.
  5. Press the A button.

Then, either:

  • Press the EXIT button.
  • Use the arrow buttons to select settings for Closed Captioning Text or Background options.

To turn off Closed Captioning, follow these steps:

  1. Press the SETTINGS button, then press the A button.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to scroll to the LANGUAGE section.
  3. Scroll to Closed Captioning and press the right arrow.
  4. Press the right arrow again and highlight the OFF option and press SELECT.
  5. Press the A button, then the EXIT button.
